Every page here, the studio included, should work with a keyboard, a screen reader, a phone held in one hand and text set twice as large. This page says how we check that, where it still falls short, and how to tell us.

What standard do you aim for?
WCAG 2.2, level AA.
Before each release every page is checked automatically for text contrast, a name on every control, landmarks and heading order, and again at three phone and tablet widths for touch targets and sideways scrolling. The plate itself is held to contrast too: on every ground, its words clear 4.5:1 and its rules 3:1, and a test fails the build if any ink falls under. Automated checks don't catch everything a person meets, which is why the last section of this page exists.
Can I make a plate without seeing it?
Yes. Every placement on it is also written out.
The plate carries a description that changes with the birth: the title, the town, the date and the clock time, then each body's degree, sign and house, the Ascendant and the Midheaven. The line under the birth fields says in words what the clock read, the UT it became and the offset applied, and it is announced each time it changes, errors included.
Can I order a print with a keyboard or a screen reader?
Yes, from the first field to the payment page.
Every choice in the studio is a labelled field, button or swatch you can reach with the Tab key, and each colour swatch has its name. Pressing Enter in a field places what's in it and never sends the order; only the Order This Print button does that. Payment happens on Stripe's own checkout page, which Stripe builds and maintains.
Does anything move?
Only the bodies, for under half a second.
When you change the birth, the Sun, the Moon and the planets travel round the wheel to their new places in 450 milliseconds. With reduced motion switched on in your device's settings, they're drawn in place at once. Nothing moves on its own.
Where does it still fall short?
- The aspects, the lines drawn between bodies across the wheel, aren't yet listed in the plate's description.
- The date and time fields are your browser's own, and how they work with a keyboard differs from one browser to the next.
- A file you download is an image, so a screen reader can't read the words printed on it.
How do I tell you something doesn't work?
Write to support@painted.app.
Say which page and what happened, and what you were using if you know it: the browser, a screen reader, a magnifier. If any part of ordering gets in your way, write to us and we'll set up the order with you by email. Post reaches us at PaintedApp, LLC, 1327 SE Tacoma St #394, Portland, OR 97202, United States.
